WHILE the first Adran Premier win of the season has been secured, there’s still areas for Wrexham to work on.

At the fourth time of asking, the Reds opened their account for the season with a crucial 3-1 triumph away to Aberystwyth Town and next up is Sunday’s trip to fifth-placed Barry Town United.

Another win could push Wrexham to within a point of the top-four and boss Steve Dale says there’s still things that need to be looked at.

“I think we’ve got a few areas that we need to address,” he told the club’s YouTube channel.

“I think we’ve got to enjoy the ball a little bit more.

“It was a game of transitions at times where they were dangerous and we were presenting them with too many good opportunities on the counter-attack.

“So, I think we just need to tidy up in possession.

“Obviously, changing shape to a 3-5-2, you know, it’s probably not our most worked-on formation, but we’ve seen a benefit of it and, obviously, it’s allowed us to get two up top and, you know, try and pin teams in a little bit more.

“So, just tidy up in them areas and hopefully that’ll come into practice this week in training.”

It took the Reds time to break the deadlock at Aberystwyth, with Liv Fuller’s powerful free kick being diverted into her own net by Libby Isaac on the hour.

Dale made the most of the interval following that scoreless first half and he stressed: “It’s always positive, you know.

“We knew that we couldn’t continue the way that we were, because we would have been asking for problems.

“Aberystwyth are more than capable of causing problems.

“So, it was vital that we started quickly and I think we did that and took control of the game a little bit and put more passages of play together, you know, and we’ve got the reward of three points.”

Late goals from Amber Lightfoot and Carra Jones put the game to bed and Wrexham will again look to pose an attacking threat against Barry, who have won two of their four matches this season.

The pick of the matches sees leaders Briton Ferry Llansawel at defending champions Cardiff City, whose unbeaten start was ended by a 1-0 loss to Swansea City last time out.

The Swans will host The New Saints, while there’s a big clash at the foot of the standings between Cardiff Met and Aberystwyth Town.

Elsewhere, it’s back to Adran Trophy action.

In Group One, unbeaten Connah’s Quay Nomads host NFA, while Llandudno travel to Bangor.

Flint Town United can boast two wins out of two in Group Two ahead of Sunday’s meeting at home to Y Felinheli. Llanfair United host Rhyl 1879 in the other tie.

In North East Wales League action, Airbus play host to Berriew, Coedpoeth welcome Henllan and Northop Hall head to Denbigh.
