JOSH JONES and Elliott Reeves were crucial figures in a promotion campaign for Flint Town United last season and the duo are impressing once more in the top flight.

Making sure the Silkmen finished as runners-up in Cymru North last season, the pair bagged a combined tally of 57 goals and they’ve grabbed three apiece so far in a promising start to the current season.

Next up for the deadly duo and their Flint colleagues is tomorrow’s home clash with Bala Town and team boss Lee Fowler has been full of praise for his dynamic pair.

“I keep going on about Elliott Reeves, but for me, JJ’s been doing a job for me out of position,” Fowler told S4C’s Sgorio.

“Every time we’ve played that kid up front, he’s scored goals for me.”

The most recent of these came late on as Flint gained a terrific 4-2 triumph away to Newtown last time out.

Izaack Lambert, Isaac Lee and Reeves were also on the scoresheet and there was a standout display from Jake Phillips, who had the assist for three of the goals.

“That’s his third goal in three games in terms of being a striker,” added Fowler, who also had praise for the likes of Florian Yonsian, Ben Wynne and substitute Harley Brindley-Peagram as Flint recorded their third league triumph of the campaign.

“They just buy into everything we’re doing and, you know, we’re not daft.

“It’s going to be a long season. We’ll enjoy it because we haven’t had these moments so long and then we start again now ready for the Bala game.”

Bala stunned defending champions The New Saints in a 3-2 outcome last month, but Colin Caton’s Lakesiders haven’t sampled a triumph since then.

A 2-2 draw away to Briton Ferry Llansawel was followed by last week’s 2-0 home defeat against Haverfordwest County.

Bala have also confirmed the departure of former Cefn Druids star Naim Arsan, who spent just over two years with the club.

Flint have a big game on Sunday when they host Brickfield Rangers in the first round of the Welsh Youth Cup.

Connah’s Quay Nomads are also at home to Llay Welfare while Mynydd Isa got to Chirk AAA.

Hawarden and Rhostyllen are on the road at The New Saints and Caernarfon Town respectively.
