RICKY EVANS wants the good days to return to Lex XI - and his team are buying into his plans.

Pictured above, The Stansty Park-based club, who have a proud history in North Wales amateur football, are doing everything they can to climb back up the league ladder.

They top the North East Wales League’s Premier Division while last week’s stunning 2-1 Welsh Trophy win at former Welsh Premier champions Rhyl is another sign of the progress being made by player-boss Evans.

“We want to get to Cymru North - that’s the aim,” said Evans, who is still playing in a career that has seen many moves to the Welsh Premier’s top sides.

“The club is going in the right direction. We have a thriving junior section and we’ve got 20 lads turning up for first team training.

“We’ve got plans but to see those plans through we need backing and if there’s anyone out there who wants to help us, that would be brilliant.”

Lex, for whom Ricky’s brother and former Wales international Steve played in last week’s win, are back in another cup competition tomorrow with Aston Park Rangers their opponents at Stansty.

“It was a brilliant win last week but it was a deserved win and Adam Griffiths, who got the winner, was outstanding in midfield.”

Mynydd Isa also had a good Trophy triumph last weekend beating Four Crosses 2-0 - and they also have home advantage over Ruabon Rovers.

“It was a very good performance and this weekend it’s another cup tie as we look to go one better than last year and lift the trophy,” said Isa’s head of senior football James Hollyoak.

“We played Ruabon a few weeks ago so we know what to expect from them which will be another tough test.”

Acton lifted The Two Counties Cup last season and they will fancy their chances of beating Cefn Druids at home.

Plas Madoc bowed out of the Welsh Trophy a week ago and will look to make amends by beating Coedpoeth United.

Greenfield go to Saltney Town on the back of a 2-0 win over FC Queen’s Park.

“It was a great win especially with nine men,” said boss Scott Beck, who had two players, Connor Griffiths and Ethan Evans, sent off.

“It would be nice to continue that form in the cup.”

Lewis Marshall, Sam Edwards, Callum Pritchard, Ryan Jones, Dylan Tyrrell and Darren Johns all miss out tomorrow.

Rhostyllen will be favourites to book their quarter-final place at hosts Skippy’s expense while Championship leaders Broughton United’s home clash with Hawarden Rangers promises to be a close affair.

Castell Alun will aim to make home advantage count against Overton Recreational while Holywell United make the trip to Gronant.

There’s one tie in the Premier Cup and holders Penyffordd Lions will aim to make progress again by winning a testing encounter at Queen’s Park.
