LEX XI boss Ricky Evans said his team were going to Rhyl to win - and that’s exactly what they did in the shock of the round.

The North East Wales League leaders won 2-1 at the former Welsh Premier League champions and that was despite having substitute and former Rhyl striker Jonny Taylor sent off.

Harry Massey netted his 15th goal of the season for Lex and set up the winner for man of the match Adam Griffiths as Alex Jones replied for the hosts in a thrilling tie at Belle Vue.

Delighted Lex boss Evans said: “I haven’t stopped smiling all weekend. The lads were absolutely unbelievable.”

Connah’s Quay Town are through to this week’s third round draw after edging past Kinmel Bay 3-2.

Pascal Gomez was Town’s match-winner at The Deeside Stadium scoring twice with Connor Morris also on target for Gavin Parry’s side.

Cefn Albion were on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline at Llannefydd, for whom Lewys Turner hit a last minute winner. Callum Mannion and Tom Smith got the goals for Cefn.

Two stoppage-time goals from Andy Vale put the gloss on Brickfield Rangers’ 4-0 win at Berriew.

Nicky Williams scored FC Plas Madoc’s consolation goal in a 3-1 home defeat to Llanrhaeadr while Llanuwchllyn won 3-1 at Tywyn Bryncrug where Meilir Williams, Will Owen and Paul Jones got the goals.

In the North East Wales Premier Cup, Matt Gilsenan (2), Dylan Taylor and Mason Lowery scored in Gronant’s 4-1 win over Castell Alun for whom Ray Jones replied.

In The Two Counties Cup, Rhydymwyn eased to a 6-0 win at Yr Wyddgrug thanks to Tom Chamberlain (2), Declan O’Connor, Tomos Cumming, Kallum Pierce and Levon Hughes.

Connah’s Quay Town were impressive 5-0 winners at Penycae in the North East Wales FA Reserves Cup.

Jon Tear-Edmonds hit a hat-trick with Damon Bradley and Scott Gibbons also on target.

Daniel Herdman, Jack Turnbull, Rob Parcesepe and Jamie Hardy helped Castell Alun to punish Penyffordd Lions 4-0.

Corwen edged past Brickfield Rangers 4-3 thanks to Harry Pooler (2), Ben Davies and Will Hughes. Jack Hanley, Joise Fernandes and Joel Edwards made a real game of it.

Ruthin Town beat Hawarden Rangers 5-3 on penalties after it ended 1-1 while Lex XI made it a double celebration for the Stansty club as they beat Cefn Albion 3-2. Phil Stott, George Baxter and Alan Huxley got the goals with Heitor Leitao and Kos Jones replying.

Ben Wilson took centre stage for Llangollen Town in a 6-0 thrashing of bottom club Llansantffraid in the Ardal North East League.

Leading scorer Wilson scored three and set up goals for Louie Middlehurst and Dan Smith in a victory that moved them into third spot and four points behind leaders Bow Street.

An own goal completed the rout while despite a goal from Harry Bowen, second-placed Penycae were beaten 2-1 at Llandrindod Wells. Penycae also had Thomas Edwards red carded as their seven-game unbeaten run came to an end.

Rhos Aelwyd’s mini-revival also ended as they lost 1-0 at home to Builth Wells while Chirk AAA were hammered 6-1 at Kerry, Tom Freeman bagging their consolation goal.

Radnor Valley beat Dolgellau 3-0 while in the North West League, Corwen went down 2-0 at NFA.

Y Felinheli beat Conwy Borough 5-3 and St Asaph City were 2-1 winners at home to Llangefni Town.
