RYAN BARNETT felt it was only a matter of time before Wrexham put in a quality performance and rediscovered their shooting boots.

#Phil Parkinson's men only took one point and failed to score in two away games at Leyton Orient and Stevenage but bounced back in style with a 4-1 victory against Northampton Town at The Racecourse.

The Reds produced an impressive display and got back to winning ways with their first four-goal haul of the season, keeping them second in League One, and Barnett felt it was coming.

"We wanted a reaction, the gaffer wanted a reaction and we showed it," said the wing-back, who had three assists and also had a hand in the other goal.

"We fought for everything all over the pitch.

"We worked hard and scored four goals, and I think that has been coming for a while.

"When we start well and we are good off the ball, we are so good with the ball that it marries together and we produce performances like that."

Parkinson is set to ring the changes for tonight's EFL Trophy group game at home to Wolves under 21s and Barnett, set to be given a breather, added: "If the gaffer picks me or he doesn't pick me, I will be there supporting the lads whether I am on the bench, come on or start.

"Every game is important."
