STEVE PARKIN says players are itching to get in the Wrexham side and tonight's clash against Wolves Under 21s at The Racecourse presents another chance for people on the fringes to prove themselves.
The Reds have made an excellent start to the League One campaign and sit second in the table with 20 points from the opening 10 games.
Manager Phil Parkinson has a strong squad at his disposal and he has rang the changes for cup matches this term.
Set to adopt the same policy for the EFL Trophy group game with Wolves' young guns, Parkin says players need to show they are ready when called upon.
Centre-back Max Cleworth was in outstanding form at the start of the season but he sustained ankle ligaments damage in the goalless draw at Leyton Orient 10 days ago and Dan Scarr, who had to bide his time after making the switch from Plymouth Argyle in the summer, has come in and impressed assistant manager Parkin in the last two games
"There are key players in the building that definitely need some minutes so I wouldn't see that changing," said Parkinson's right hand-man,
"They are a great bunch of lads and they are really good to work with.
"Sometimes it is not easy when you are out of the team and seeing the the team winning but the boys have been magnificent.
"We got an unfortunate injury to Max, somebody has to step in and it was Dan who has done well.
"We have had the benefit of being in this division before and had the benefit of getting promoted out of this division before, and we know how hard it is and we know the strength in depth that you need.
"You have to have that strength in depth and cover in every position to make sure that when people are needed through injuries and suspension, then you are not a weaker side and you are just as strong and I think we have got that.
"We have got a strong squad and they are all motivated to get in the team so to see some of them play on Tuesday night will be good."
Wrexham beat Salford City 2-1 in their opening group game while Wolves drew 2-2 at Port Vale in their first outing but lost 5-4 in the penalty shoot-out.
