STEVE PARKIN is delighted with Wrexham's position after 10 games and he has urged no let-up from his players so they remain among the League One high-fliers.

Back-to-back promotions winners Wrexham beat Northampton Town 4-1 at The Racecourse to maintain the 100 per cent home record and stay second in the third tier, two points behind leaders Birmingham City who suffered a first defeat at Charlton Athletic.

Parkinson says a haul of 20 points from 10 matches is impressive but no-one is getting carried away with nearly a quarter of the season gone.

He said: "It is very pleasing. We know we are in a division where the quality is better, we know we are in a division that's going to be tough right to the very end but we have got confidence in our own ability.

"Stockport, Mansfield and us are all in the top six so the strength in depth from coming up from the division below is good.

"It is a great achievement to be fair. We know we have got a long way to go but to be 10 games in and be sat where we are is very good for everybody at the football club.

"It is important we keep our feet on the ground and it is important that we keep doing what we are doing and work hard on the training ground.

"We have got a good group of players who motivate themselves as well which is really important and let's see how far it takes us.

"The key thing for us is that we never take our foot off the gas with the way that we work with the players and if that is good enough for us to get where we want to be, then great.

"If not, it is going to take some decent teams to beat us, especially here."

Parkin admits it has been a better start than anyone imagined but insists Wrexham's lofty position in the table is thoroughly deserved.

"If somebody said before the start of the season that you are going to be sat with 20 points after 10 games, you would have snatched their hand off," he added.

"The realism is we deserve to be there on merit. Out of the 10 games, there has not been very many real disappointing performances in terms of effort and work-rate.

"Maybe in quality on the odd time but in terms of the way we have addressed ourselves and way we have played at home has been truly magnificent."
