CLUBS will be up for the cup tomorrow.

With a break from league action lined up, Wrexham and Mold can both look forward to ties in the Division One Cup.

For Wrexham, they will experience home comforts against COBRA.

They will go into the tie on the back of a promising showing from their 38-12 loss at leaders Nant Conwy.

Skipper Jack Harrison said: “The performance at Nant was very pleasing in a lot of aspects, despite the scoreline. We kept the ball really well, fronted up in defence, it was just our errors that they punished.

“That’s the difference against teams in this league, if you make mistakes you often concede.

“We need to take the positives out of it, as it was our best performance of the season against a very strong side and look to build on that in the cup this weekend.

“We’re facing COBRA who are tough up front but like to throw it about as well, so it will be a good test. We know our strength is keeping the ball, so if we can be slightly more accurate when we have it then we should see an improvement in results.”

Mold have a testing trip to Caernarfon, but they will head on their travels following Ethan Roberts’ injury time try in last week’s 36-36 draw at Denbigh.

Mold coach Alex Jones said: “To be honest, it was a good, competitive game. It was one for the spectators, definitely.

“It was a difficult one for both sides, I think. We had a yellow card in the first 25, 30 minutes and that had us down to 14 men.

“It was a hungry attitude from the boys to get back in the game.

“I’m proud of how they came back. We’ve got a tough run of fixtures with Caernarfon away in the cup, then Nant at home the week after and Caernarfon away again.”

There’s one other North Wales tie in the first round with Nant Conwy at home to Pwllheli.

Division Three Cup: Colwyn Bay v Welshpool.

Mold Athletic are at home to Rhosllanerchrugog in the Division Five Cup, while Flint play host to Llanidloes.

Llangollen-based Bro Gwernant are faced with a long trek to Menai Bridge, while Wrexham Athletic welcome Bangor.

Other North Wales ties: Bala Ath v Bethesda Ath; Colwyn Bay Ath v COBRA Ath; Denbigh Ath v Bro Ffestiniog; Porthmadog v Llangefni Ath.

There’s finally an away day as RGC look to make it three wins on the bounce in Super Rugby Cymru.

Following three home matches to open the campaign, RGC head to Pontypool tomorrow.

Other fixtures: Cardiff v Carmarthen Quins; Llandovery v Ebbw Vale; Newport v Aberavon.
