A SUPERB away day showing has kept Gresford Athletic clear at the top of the North East Wales U17s League.

Athletic grabbed their sixth success of the season with a 4-0 verdict against Halkyn United, with Sam Bryan (2), Morgan Williams and Oliver Tomkinson on target.

Second-placed Broughton United Super Saints got the better of Brickfield Rangers 2-1 thanks to Jay Potts and Jack McCarthy-Hall. Dylan Hayes had given Brickfield the lead.

Llay Welfare were indebted to goals from Zac Jones (2) and Rhys Hankey in their 3-2 triumph over Aston Park Rangers, who had Alex Brennan on the mark.

Elsewhere, Cameron Lea’s late strike salvaged a 3-3 draw for Mold Alex at third-placed Lex. Matthew Cross and Joseph Delaney also netted for the visitors, as Georgi Georgiev, Joseph Cunnah and Oliver Hughes struck for Lex.

AFC Flint, Broughton United and Mold Alex all gained double-figure triumphs in the U14s’ section.

David Lubanski’s five-goal haul helped Flint to victory over Broughton United Saints, with Nathaniel Lewis (3), Jac Williams (2), Dawid Kromp, Isaac James and Harri Jones adding to the tally.

Bailey Allman grabbed four goals in Broughton’s success against Aston Park Rangers, who responded via Lewis Griffiths, Jac Edwards and Isaac Burfoot. Lampis Tsapi (3), Jacob Carter (2), Thomas Dennis and Ethan Meadowcroft also struck for United.

Meanwhile, there were four goals for Gabriel Chadwick as Mold got the better of Broughton United Super Saints, who had Callum Jones and Isaac Lovell on the mark. The other Mold efforts were supplied by Thomas Reynolds (2), Brody Hayes (2), Kenzie Roberts, Aiden Font and an own goal.

It was tough luck on Rhys Duncan-Timms, who scored a Buckley Town Wanderers’ hat-trick in a 7-3 loss against Saltney Town. Four-goal Theo de Costa, Harry McHugh, Louie Briscoe and Desmond Titiloye won it.

Devyn Johnson, Leo Macaskill, Oliver Ricketts, Sonny Harrison, Oliver Hancock and Rio Cooper made sure of a 6-1 verdict for Kinnerton Oaks against Mynydd Isa, who replied through Vinnie Carus-Stowe, while Greenfield and Hawarden played out a 2-2 draw.

Max Thomas and Warner Edwards netted for Greenfield, as Einoras Kavaliauskas and Matthew Sewell responded.

Finley Greenwood and Zac Eccles struck for Buckley Town in a 5-2 loss to FC Nomads, who sealed the deal courtesy of William Rosney (2), Jacob Williams, Harry Harey and Declan Condron.

Three matches went ahead in the U15s’ section and the closest of these witnessed a 2-1 success for Brickfield Rangers versus AFC Flint Cubs. El-nino Redmond and Morgan Murray won it, while Jon Farron made a real game of it.

Leon Hayes-Williams, Ben Hughes, Corey Bailey, Jaiman Lamani and an own goal confirmed Saltney Town’s 5-1 success against Borras Park Albion Blues, who had Thomas Rimmer on the scoresheet.

Liam Forder (2), Berwyn Maxymus Ellis and Ellis Jones led Halkyn United to a 4-1 win at Aston Park Rangers, who replied through Kieron Gadsby.
