THIS weekend marks the end of the League One season with the play-off grand final.

Keighley Cougars host Hunslet in the end-of-season showpiece on Sunday and North Wales Crusaders’ head coach Carl Forster has been left to reflect on missing out on a spot in the play-offs by just two points.

Crusaders ended the campaign in seventh position and Forster (pictured above) told CruCast: “It’s one of those. It’s what could have been, all the ifs, buts and maybes, but that’s sport.

“That’s rugby and on reflection, we’ve got to just look at what we can improve on and there’s plenty of areas to do so.”

Over the course of the campaign, North Wales were involved with Midlands Hurricanes and Workington Town in a battle to secure the final two play-off berths.

Crusaders were ultimately unsuccessful in their quest, but they do have ambitions to climb the standings when the 2025 League One campaign gets underway and Forster added: “It’s a big off-season, but ultimately we can’t be too disheartened about how the season’s gone.

“It’s a learning curve and like we keep saying, we know the bigger picture and hopefully on to bigger and better things.”
