PHIL PARKINSON is not surprised that Wrexham's game against Lincoln City at The Racecourse has been postponed.

The League One clash was due to take place on Saturday, October 12 but has been called up due to international call-ups.

The Imps have received the required number of call-ups to request a postponement, which has now been approved by the Football League, so the match will have to be rearranged.

Lincoln's home match against Northampton Town in September was also off for the same reason so Wrexham will now have a free weekend.

"We expected that so it's no surprise to us," said Parkinson about the postponement.

Wrexham take on Northampton at The Racecourse on Saturday and are also home to Wolves under 21s in a EFL Trophy group game next Tuesday.

After facing the Cobblers this weekend, the Reds return to league action a fortnight later at Rotherham United on Saturday October 19.

Only one fixture will have to be rearranged after Wrexham's game against Stevenage on Tuesday night got the go ahead.

The match was in doubt due to heavy rainfall at The Lamex Stadium but referee Will Finnie carried out a pitch inspection and gave the green light after carrying out a pitch inspection.

There were no problem with the playing surface during the contest, although Wrexham suffered a 1-0 defeat, and Parkinson couldn't understand why there was an issue.

"There was a pitch inspection but when we got here, it was almost like 'what's all the fuss been about' because the pitch was absolutely perfect," he added.

"There was a bit of a drama during the day but it didn't affect us at all."

Here's a video of the pitch inspection.
