WREXHAM owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have been praised for "doing things properly" by former Chelsea and Arsenal star Emmanuel Petit.

The Hollywood stars completed their high-profile takeover at The Racecourse in February 2021 and have seen manager Phil Parkinson's side clinch back-to-back promotions, taking the Reds from the National League to League One.

The momentum has continued this season with Wrexham among the frontrunners in the third tier while the club has become a global sensation due to the hit documentary series 'Welcome to Wrexham'.

The Reds' incredible rise has caught the eye of ex-French international midfielder Petit, a World Cup and European Championship winner who also played for Monaco and Barcelona, and he feels Reynolds and McElhenney are showing their Blues counterparts how to do things.

"Wrexham’s owners are completely different to Chelsea – they are doing things right," Petit told Prime Casino.

"I’m a huge fan of Ryan Reynolds as an actor and a person but also as a club owner now, he has good values alongside Rob McElhenny and they’ve already had two promotions and are even competing to get into the Championship thanks to them.

"They are doing things properly, step by step, they have the money and the ambition, it’s a dream for their fans and I'm actually quite jealous!

"They have done great things already and the fans just look delighted. Maybe one day they will sell the club if they get to the Premier League, but it’s been a great story so far."
