THE title race has become an even more thrilling one after leaders Airbus’ perfect start was ended by defeat away to third-placed Colwyn Bay.

Michael Wilde’s Seagulls moved to within four points of the front-runners on the back of a thrilling 6-3 success, with former Airbus striker Craig Lindfield grabbing a hat-trick.

Airbus manager Mark Allen told the club’s website: “Of course we are very disappointed to lose the game and there are certain things we’ve spoken about after the game that weren’t good enough and will address this week.

“However we have to learn from this, put things right and that not let this one blip deter us from our targets for the season.

“It was a very positive run of results for the team, which is testimony to every one of them for the hard work and buy in they’ve had and the hard work of the staff. But it’s finished, we move on and put things right.”

In the ideal start for Airbus, Sam Baker fired them ahead in the 11th minute, but Colwyn Bay turned things around by the interval via strikes from Lindfield and Jay Owen.

Lindfield added another early in the second half, before the Wingmakers hauled themselves level through Danny Warren and visitors’ man of the match Jordan Evans.

Bay weren’t going to be denied, though, and efforts from Lindfield, Tom Marsh-Hughes and Gwion Dafydd saw them pull clear.

Boss Johnny Haseldin admitted his Holywell Town side wasn’t good enough in a shock 2-0 home defeat to Denbigh Town.

The Wellmen created a number of chances, but they found Denbigh keeper Aaron Jones in excellent form.

Haseldin told Cymru Sport: “If I’m honest, don’t really think it was good enough. We weren’t really true to ourselves for how we know we can play. Obviously, sleeping for the first goal.”

This came in the opening minute when Alfie Vaughan set up Owen Davies to slot home.

Jake Roberts and Beau Cornish went close to levelling things up as the first half developed, while Morgan Murray was denied by the Denbigh keeper right at the start of the second half.

Jones also saved from Gareth Evans and Jamie Breese, while Denbigh thought they had sealed it on 90 minutes when Harrison Bellis netted, but this was ruled out.

However, Denbigh did have their second goal in the third minute of stoppage time with Sam Duffy firing home.

Haseldin added: “We just weren’t ruthless enough and disappointing, really, especially at home, that we didn’t have that spark today that you need to win football matches.”

Mold Alex returned to the top-four with their hard-fought 2-1 triumph at Guilsfield.

Emmanuel Lawal and Fabrizio Murtas struck in each half for Barry Owen’s side, who recorded their sixth league win of the campaign.

Substitute Daniel Tinsley grabbed a last minute consolation for the home side.

Assistant boss Liam Groves told the Mold Facebook page: “Delighted with the three points. To come anywhere on the road, especially in this league, it’s a tough ask and we said that to the players today.

“We thought that the game plan we went with, even though it might have changed a couple of times, it was the right one, demonstrated by the result.”
