TERRIFIC triumphs were secured by Wrexham athletes competing in the Telford Games.

There was double joy for Wrexham AAC’s Tomasi Fidow, who triumphed in the U13 boys’ shot put (9.36m) and discus (24.74m).

First places in the U15 girls’ javelin (26.66m) and discus (28.10m) went the way of Annabelle Jones, who was also third in the shot put (7.83m), while Isabella Bennett was runner-up in the shot put (9.19m) and discus (16.29m).

Ian Robinson (25.50m) claimed first place in the M75 discus, while javelin runner-up berths went the way of Seren Fidow (12.27m) and Ellis Jones (10.36m) in the U11 section.

Steve Jones (621st in 13-29.46) and Tony Forster (821st in 14-01.46) tackled the Wales Ironman event, at Tenby, while Mark Hughes (294th in 1-48.29) and Jennifer Moss (704th in 2-23.30) completed the Lake Vyrnwy half-marathon.

Continuing the half-marathon theme, Glyn Wise (1-44.07) was 66th at Abersoch and James Nicholls (1-15.58) crossed the line 10th at Warrington.

Karl Moore clocked 56.08 for 152nd spot in the Guilden Sutton 10k, while Ifan Oldfield (27th in 3-42.25) and Ally Hughes (60th in 4-13.05) competed in the Pedol Peris fell race, in Llanberis.

Charles Ashley (38th in 1-13.55) tackled the King John’s Castle fell race and Grace Hughes was the first U15 girl in the Arnside junior cross-country races. Evie Hughes was runner-up in the U15 girls’ section, with George Hughes fourth in the U11 boys’ race.

The third race in the Wirral multi terrain series at Harrison Drive, Wallasey was affected by traffic issues with some Deestriders unable to get there and not all who did were on time for the start, but they took part anyway.

Christine Cammillare, raising money for Jackson’s Animal Rescue, epically summitted Snowdon three times with four friends - Johanna Gasson, Allan McKeown, Charlotte Hunter and Kirstie Fraser - using all six paths and covering a marathon distance.

Just three days later, Christine completed the hilly Beaumaris half marathon in a strong time of 1-45.37, while Dean Matthews (57.55) and wife Bernice (57.56) ran personal bests at the Hoylake 10k.

Wrexham triumphs were gained at a pair of parkruns. Christian Smith (17.33) was first at Peel, with Daniel Weston (17.29) taking that honour at Erddig.

At Llangollen, Simon Williams was 30th in 25.15, with Charles Ashley 38th in 26.37.

Deestriders’ parkrun blitz zoned in on Crosby, but with it being relatively far away, compounded by major road closures, only eight took part there.
