JAKE WITKOWSKI has made a stunning start to life with the Deeside Dragons.
Witkowski grabbed a hat-trick and supplied three assists as Dragons secured their second NIHL Division One North success of the season with a 7-2 outcome at Widnes Wild.
“He’s such a humble and nice guy as well,” said Dragons’ assistant head coach Matt Compton.
“He’s a very, very good player and sets up nice goals, but his attitude and everything is great. He only just got off the plane and he was skating in new skates. He had two days to get rid of the jet-lag. He slotted in perfectly.”
Jakub Hajek (2), Ross Kennedy (pictured) and Alex Parry grabbed the other goals to make it a super Sunday for Deeside, who can now look forward to this Saturday’s Welsh Cup showdown at Cardiff Fire.
Witkowski has joined the Dragons after two seasons with the Leeds Knights in the NIHL National Division, where he scored 30 goals and 87 points in 45 games.
He is a product of Boston University, where he spent four years, and will bring dynamism and excitement to the Dragons roster.
Head coach Mike Clancy told the club’s website: “I’ve been in contact with Jake throughout the summer – he had many options here in the UK and I’m pleased he bought into the clubs values and ambition, while also wanting to contribute to the successes of the club whilst still in its rebuilding phase.”
