THINGS are just champion for Northop Seconds.

Requiring just a point to claim the Division One title, Northop had that in the bag by the time their contest away to Mold was abandoned due to rain.

Both sides picked up three points apiece, which left Mold outside of the top-three positions. Richard Crane (33) top scored in Mold’s 130 all out and Northop had reached 68 for one (James Roberts 33 not out) when time was called.

Halkyn made sure of their safety with a 108-run win over Abergele, who suffered relegation. Halkyn’s 45 overs yielded 166 for nine, before Graeme Settle took five for 17 to dismiss the visitors for 58.

Brody Camp (70), Joshua Clarke (52) and Lee Davies (6-32) starred as Connah’s Quay defeated Dolgellau, while Pontblyddyn lost out by 111 runs at Conwy, despite the best efforts of Dave Evans (43).

Elsewhere, Hawarden Park were defeated by 48 runs versus Bethesda. Evan Shaw (3-12) was an impressive figure for Park.

Chirk claimed a 52-run Shropshire League Division One success at Wellington Seconds. Nick Flack (37) helped Chirk to 146 for eight and set a revised 102 from 22 overs, Wellington ended on 49 for six.

Northop Hall’s Liverpool Competition clash was Hightown St Marys was abandoned. Andrew Watkin (69) top scored in Hall’s 195 for seven and Nathan Roett claimed 3-16 in the visitors’ 33-3.
