WREXHAM remain on the hunt for a first Adran Premier League point - and goal - of the campaign.

The Reds suffered their second top flight loss to open the campaign with a 3-0 reverse at Briton Ferry Llansawel, who have maximum points following last season’s promotion.

It was a repeat of the 2022-23 promotion play-off, which the Reds won 1-0.

Although Rosie Hughes had an early effort saved by home keeper Courtney Young, Briton Ferry Llansawel claimed an 11th minute lead via Lowri Ridings.

Six minutes later and it was 2-0, with Alice Broadley on the scoresheet.

Wrexham, still searching for a first goal of the season, sought to battle back and Amber Lightfoot’s fine curling effort went wide of the target.

The Reds will have been looking for a fast start after the break, but it was the hosts who put the game to bed with their third goal just two minutes after the restart.

Lucy Powell was the creator for Tija Richardson’s effort.

Rebecca Pritchard, Ava Suckley and Abbie Ibbenden were introduced off the bench as the Reds looked for a change in their fortunes.

Hughes had an opportunity late on for the visitors, but she just couldn’t stretch enough to supply the finish.

Other results: The New Saints 6 Aberystwyth 1; Swansea 0 Barry 0; Cardiff City 3 Cardiff Met 1.

In the Welsh Cup, Connah’s Quay Nomads secured their place in the next round with a hard-fought 2-0 victory at Llanfair United.

Nomads took a 1-0 advantage into the break. Pheobe Ellis delivered a corner into the box and Aimee Redfern was there to head in.

Midway through the second half and Nomads had another goal to celebrate.

Polly Wild-McGregor was on hand to double the advantage from another Ellis assist.

Flint Town United departed the competition as they lost out 6-2 at Llangefni Town.

Initially, things looked to be going to plan for Flint as Rosie Hughes set up Carys Chaisty for the opening goal after just two minutes.

Back came Llangefni, though, and efforts from Ffion Owen, Jessica Jones and Eleanor Coulson saw them take a 3-1 advantage into the interval.

Jones added another two early in the second half to complete her hat-trick. Zoe Stopford pulled one back for Flint, while Jennifer Cox added a sixth for Llangefni.

Northop Hall lost out 3-0 at Llanystumdwy.

Other northern section results: Denbigh 2 Pwllheli 5; Bangor 1 Llandudno 7; Amlwch 1 Rhyl 1879 6.

Last season’s champions Connah’s Quay Nomads opened the new Adran U19s North League season with a 6-0 defeat at The New Saints.

Josie Lawson and Soffia Jones scored two apiece for the Saints, with Elin Roberts and Lily Cudlip adding the others.
