OUTPLAYED and outclassed. That was the immediate knee-jerk reaction to Wrexham’s disappointing defeat at Birmingham City.
The Reds were second best on the pitch as they are when it comes to matching big-spending Brum whose 10 million pound man Jay Stansfield cashed in with a double.
But let’s have a bit of a reality check on this. The Reds are still top in League One and who’d have thought that when the fixture computer spewed out some particularly tough tests for Phil Parkinson’s side.
Parkinson won’t panic but he will learn valuable lessons in defeat and he may make a couple of changes tomorrow with Paul Mullin possibly making his first league start of the season.
It’s been an amazing start to the season and to be topping the table going into tomorrow’s home against Crawley Town is another sign of just how far this proud club has come.
And just to emphasis this incredible journey, five years ago tomorrow Wrexham lost 1-0 at Aldershot Town in what proved to be Bryan Hughes’ penultimate match as Reds’ boss.
OUR PREDICTIONS:
WREXHAM 3 CRAWLEY TOWN 0 NICK HARRISON
WREXHAM 3 CRAWLEY TOWN 1 RICHARD WILLIAMS
WREXHAM 2 CRAWLEY TOWN 1 SHAUN DAVIES
THE SCORES SO FAR... RICHARD WILLIAMS 7; NICK HARRISON 6; SHAUN DAVIES 5
