THINGS could be just champion for Northop tomorrow.

A week after the first team completed their North Wales Cricket League Premier Division season, Northop's second team is looking at the possibility of silverware in Division One.

Northop have been at the top of the table for the bulk of the season and one point from tomorrow's derby at Mold will make sure of the title.

First team skipper Bart Ryan-Beswick wished the side good luck and he added: "It's a huge achievement for a second team to win this league, hopefully making a little history in the process."

As Northop Seconds are ineligible for promotion, Mold know a win could be enough for a top-three finish and with it a potential step-up to the Premier Division.

It's a big weekend for Halkyn and Pontblyddyn, who could still go down. Pont require nine points from their trip to Conwy and Halkyn can afford up to a 12-3 defeat in their home clash with Abergele.

Buckley play host to Brymbo Seconds, Connah's Quay welcome Dolgellau and Hawarden Park entertain Bethesda.

Marchwiel and Wrexham will clinch the Division Two title if they gather four points at home to third-placed Bangor Seconds.

Other fixtures: Bersham v Menai Bridge 2nds; Mochdre 2nds v Llay; Pontblyddyn 2nds v Corwen; St Asaph 2nds v Carmel & District.

Division Three: Bethesda 2nds v Halkyn 2nds; Caernarfon v Buckley 2nds; Denbigh 2nds v Connah's Quay 2nds; Gwersyllt Park 2nds v Mold 2nds; Ruthin v Conwy 2nds.

Chirk have two more matches remaining to complete the Shropshire League season. Their final away Division One match takes place tomorrow against Wellington Seconds, while Chirk Seconds host Lilleshall Thirds.

Northop Hall finish their Liverpool Competition season at home to Hightown St Marys, while the respective second teams meet in a reverse fixture.
