LEE FOWLER has praised the impact Steve Evans has made since he joined the backroom staff at Flint Town United.

Manager Fowler, preparing for tomorrow’s trip to Briton Ferry Llansawel, brought former Wrexham and Wales defender Evans in as his assistant at the Essity Stadium over the summer.

This month, the duo have overseen back-to-back Flint triumphs, which has hauled the Silkmen out of the bottom two, with a pair of clean sheets proving key to these wins.

Fowler said: “You have got to give Evo a massive, massive credit to what he does.

“We are totally different managers and coaches, but we’re the same people. He sees danger, where I see a thrill.

“There’s lots of good things he does. I see football being played on the front foot.

“Bringing Evo in to manage the other side of it has been a blessing in disguise.

“You have got to give Evo credit with the detail he goes into with the lads.”

Flint opened the month with a 2-0 triumph away to Aberystwyth and they followed it up with last week’s 1-0 success over high-flying Haverfordwest County.

After making it back-to-back triumphs, Fowler told S4C’s Sgorio: “The one thing they’ve given me from the start, when we were losing, until now, when we’ve won the next two, is that they’re fully committed.

“They’re buying into everything we’re doing and, you know, we are going to go back to losing games of football.

“There’s no doubt about it. So, we just want to seem humble, keep our principles.

“We know where we’re going to be. We know what we’ve got to do and we’ve had a couple of wins now and then a couple of losses.

“So, we just keep consistent with where we are in terms of our emotions.”

As far as his team for tomorrow’s big clash at winless Briton Ferry Llansawel, Fowler stressed: “The lads have done well, so it will be difficult to drop them.

“But there’s lads on the bench that are doing well. Lads are pushing each other.

“We have got some good kids coming through and we’ve also signed some very good young talent.”
