BROUGHTON-BASED Wings Bushido Ju Jitsu saw unrivalled success at the 2024 nationals.

The tournament was held at the National Judo Centre, in Walsall, with a 22-strong team from Wings Bushido attending.

The club’s cohort performed superbly and they managed to secure a brilliant haul of 36 medals, including 12 golds, four of which were snapped up by Emily Clark.

This medal haul meant that Wings Bushido was the best performing club on the day and it contributed hugely to the overall success of the larger Bushido academy, who ended up being the best academy across Britain in 2024.

Speaking on behalf of the Bushido academy, Sensei Paul Geogan (10th Dan) said: “Wings’ hard work, dedication and commitment to the ethics and values of Ju Jitsu contributed greatly to the club’s success.”

Senior club coaches and Senseis Richie Parry and Dave Jones have extended their gratitude and appreciation to all students who worked so hard during the competition camp.

Six weeks of extra training and gruelling targeted sessions paid dividends and made the coaching staff proud and honoured to be part of this excellent team.

It continues the success story for the club, which was opened by Sensei Richie Parry and Sensei Dave Jones in 2013 with only 10 members.

Now, they have over 40 students including both juniors and seniors.

Classes at Wings Bushido are held twice weekly at the Broughton Wings Sports and Social Club (Airbus Broughton).
