CORY JONES is continuing to demonstrate that he is international class.
The Maelor Boxing Club member represented Wales for the 25th time at 54kgs when he competed in the Moldavian international tournament.
It wasn’t just a case of competing for Jones, though, as he came away with a gold medal from the event.
In his quarter-final, Jones took on Romanian champion Pater Adalbert and it was the Welsh boxer who came through the big challenge on points.
Then, in the semi-finals, there was another points triumph for Jones, this time against Ukrainian champion Rudyk Maksym.
Jones continued to dominate the division in the final against Israeli champion Hreish Fakeed and another points victory made sure of the title.
Maelor ABC coach Butch Jones said: “All contests were against very good opponents who were representing their countries.
“It’s a big achievement for 19-year-old Cory and I and all at Maelor Boxing Club would like to congratulate him on his achievement.”
