RELAY glory has been garnered by a pair of Wrexham club members.

Competing at the England inter-area masters challenge, in Corby, Amanda Broadhurst and Ian Broadhurst were members of the triumphant Welsh masters’ relay teams.

In-form Ian was part of the M70 4x100m team that clocked 56.08, with Amanda playing her part in a victorious W50 success of 61.31.

Amanda was also second in the shot put (8.55m), while Ian won the 300m hurdles (49.38) and 100m (13.94).

There were plenty of Wrexham wins at the Menai AC open meeting.

Personal bests saw victories in the U11 girls’ class for Macey Quick in the 150m (24.80) 75m (12.25) and long jump (2.85m), while Freddie Cunningham took first place in the U13 boys’ long jump (4.49m), high jump (1.40m) and 100m (14.22m).

Continuing the winning theme in the U15 girls’ category was Annabelle Jones, in the javelin (27.20m) and discus (24.75m), while successes went to Lucy Jones - in the U17 women’s 200m (26.29) and 100m (12.88) - and Oliver Edwards in the senior men’s 100m (11.36).

Ellis Jones was fourth in the U11 boys’ long jump (2.80m) and 600m (2-20.79).

At the Trafford AC open meeting, Isabella Bennett produced personal bests to win the U15 girls’ discus (24.08m) and shot put (9.17m), while a time of 1-45.44 saw Matty Williams cross the line 6,611th at the Great North Run.

It was the final race in the Deestriders Off Road Grand Prix at Shotton, with Michael Young and Keely Smith of West Cheshire the overall series winners.

Wrexham’s Gareth Chaloner clocked 26.21 to finish as the first M40 and fifth overall, Owain Roberts (45.06) was 38th at the Tatton Park 10k and Simon Williams (2-05.56) crossed the line 284th in the Caernarfon half-marathon.

At the same event, Deestrider Max Dowell (1-24.08) was the second senior man and Joey Davies (1-26.18) was the second MV35.

Wrexham’s Immy Jones was the second senior woman and 58th overall at the Sandstone trail 17.1-mile A race in 2-40.08, while second W55 Linda Jones (159th in 3-03.12) and Charles Ashley (288th in 3.45.27) also competed.

Deestriders Beverley Goodson and Fiona Robinson, plus friend of the club Ruth Appleton, took part in the standard distance SupTri in Ullswater. This involved a 1.7-mile paddle board section, 12-mile hilly bike ride and 5k fell run.

In race one of the Wirral multi terrain series at Royden Park, Christine Cammillare (39.21), Fred Aird (40.46) and Michelle Bowes (41.13) were the leading Deestriders.

Wrexham’s Alexandra Edwards was the second W60 and 94th overall in 28.23 at the Ruthin 5k while club-mate Daniel Weston (17.43) was first at the latest Erddig parkrun.

West Cheshire bagged team medals at the North West and Cheshire Road Relay Championships.

The purple and gold-vested outfit claimed five podium positions during Sunday’s challenging weather conditions at Edge Hill University, Ormskirk.

Abby Gamble (eight minutes and one second), Saskia Keresturova (8:18) and Felicity Snowden (8:11) combined for second team position in the Cheshire Under 11 Girls Championships and ninth spot in the North West event, ahead of team mates Heidi Anstey (8:55), Hermione Allison (9:33) and Evelyn Edwards (8:34) who teamed up for fifth place in the Cheshire Championships.

Poppy McKenna (11:25), Amelia Snowden (11:49) and Nia Manson (11:03) secured silver medals in the Cheshire Under 13 Girls Championships and seventh spot in the North West event, ahead of team mates Heidi Wetherall (12:22), Florence Hain (12:27) and Rose Sheppard (12:57) who claimed fifth position in the Cheshire event.

Ben Newall (18:14), Lewis Morris (17:54) and Dan Walker (18:35) combined for silver medals in the Cheshire Under 17 Men’s Championship while Alfie Thompson (7:50), Finley Edwards (8:42) and Jack Arnold (7:51) teamed up for bronze medals in the Cheshire Under 11 Boys Championships.

And Lauren Higgins (12:44), Eleanor Wheeler (11:25) and Emilia Pyper (10:39) secured bronze medals in the Cheshire Under 17 Women’s Championships.
