DERBYSHIRE skipper David Lloyd says a talented North East Wales cricketer has a bright future in the sport.

Teenager Romano Franco has broken into the Wales National County side this summer and Lloyd believes the Northop spinner has a “really promising future ahead of him”.

Asked about the next big thing from the region, former Brymbo all-rounder Lloyd said: “Romano Franco, who’s in the Glamorgan academy, he’s originally from Buckley.”

Speaking to: https://www.networldsports.co.uk/cricket.html, Lloyd added: “He was a wicket-keeper who batted, and he’s now become a bit of a spinner as well.

“He’s got a really promising future ahead of him.”

Franco made his debut for the senior Wales National County side this summer against Hertfordshire in the NCCA One Day Trophy.

Wales won by 76 runs at Hitchin and Franco took 2-48 from his 10 overs, including a stunning caught-and-bowled dismissal of James Latham.
