CONNAH’S QUAY TOWN boss Gavin Parry might be miffed about going out of two cup competitions but there’s no doubts about league form in their debut Ardal North West League season.

Town are one of three teams locked on 13 points at the top of the table and Parry, whose side head to Nantlle Vale tomorrow, said: “On the whole, we’re happy with the start we’ve had.

“A little disappointed to go out of two cup competitions in the manner that we have but overall I’m happy.

“It’s a tough trip to Nantlle Vale and another big test for us to see if we can keep progressing in the league.”

Despite going out of the Welsh Cup and the League Cup, Town prevented an exit hat-trick with a superb 6-0 win in a feisty affair in the Welsh Trophy at Queen’s Park last Saturday.

“It was a really good win and the lads showed a lot of class to keep their discipline.”

Joint leaders Porthmadog and Llangefni Town both have home games against Corwen and NFA respectively while Rhyl 1879 make the trip to Llannefydd.

Other fixtures: Conwy Boro v St Asaph City; Menai Bridge Tigers v Llanrwst Utd; Pwllheli v Holyhead Hotspur; Y Felinheli v Trearddur Bay.

Ardal North East League leaders Brickfield Rangers suffered a shock 2-0 cup defeat at Corwen in midweek.

But Gareth Wilson’s side are flying in the league and head to Radnor Valley a point clear at the top after five straight victories.

“We have a full squad with the exception of Lewis Clamp,” said Wilson. “They play some very good football and it will be a difficult challenge but it’ s a challenge we are definitely looking forward to.”

Cefn Albion host Llanuwchllyn on the back of a 2-0 win over Gronant in the Welsh Trophy.

“The lads have got a bit of confidence back and hopefully we’ll now push on and put a run together,” said boss Ian Andrews.

“It should have been five or six last week but we’re not getting the luck in front of goal at the moment. When it comes, we could score a hatful!”

That may not come tomorrow against a side Andrews rates highly.

“They will be up challenging at the top again this season after missing out in play off final last season,” said the Cefn boss.

“Sion Tyrer is a good manager and has assembled a very good squad.”

Tyler Wilkinson is ruled out but Dion Gibbins, Jimmy Jones, Ryan Merrill and Josh Valentine all return.

“It’s a hard job juggling the players but they are all part of the squad and understand they have all got a part to play throughout the season,” Andrews added.

Penycae are the team in form and a victory at home to Builth Wells will make it five league wins on the spin.

Rhos Aelwyd hit the road again with boss Gareth Jones looking for a bit more luck at Dolgellau.

“We were really unlucky at Builth - completely dominant but didn’t take our chances,” said Jones, whose side are in the bottom three.

“We’ve got a couple of injuries but good to have Harley Davies and goalkeeper Danny Roberts back in contention.

“I want players who are up for the challenge we face as a club, and most importantly - have the sense of pride to represent Rhos.”

Chirk AAA home advantage over Llanidloes Town on Sunday hoping to chalk up their first league win of the season.

Tomorrow’s other fixtures: Kerry v Bow Street; Llandrindod Wells v Llansantffraid.
