DAN SCARR feels Wrexham have shown they can compete with the best in League One and he is looking for more of the same against the team he supports!

Phil Parkinson's men have made a flying start to the season, emerging unbeaten from the opening five games which included a hard-fought 0-0 draw with Bolton Wanderers - beaten play-off finalists last term - and 2-0 win at Peterborough who also finished in the top-six in 2023-24.

Saturday's 3-0 cross border derby win at home to Shrewsbury Town took Wrexham to the top of the third tier but they now face promotion favourites Birmingham City at St Andrew's in their next game on Monday night.

Scarr, who joined the Reds from Plymouth Argyle in the summer, is a Blues fan and knows just how tough it will be but he feels back-to-back promotion winners Wrexham have proved they are at home at this level.

"If you look at League One now, there are a lot of teams that are ex-Championship teams and some Premier League teams," said the centre-back, who was born in Bromsgrove.

"They have all got good pedigree but I think we have shown we are very capable of going head-to-head with them, and coming out on top.

"I don't see why we can't carry it on the rest of the season."

Birmingham, the division's biggest spenders in the summer transfer window, are looking to go straight back up to the Championship following last season's relegation.

Scarr says Wrexham will treat it like any other game but will relish coming up against the Blues.

"The lads won't approach it any different," he added.

"Obviously there's the atmosphere and there's the bragging rights with the owners being American, and stuff like that.

"We will go with a game-plan and try and execute it the best we can but it will just be a normal game like we have set out for every game this season.

"Just go there and try and get a result like we have done in the other games. Hopefully if we put in a performance like we have been doing, we will be fine.

"It's a sell-out and I've seen a few away days from our fans as well and they are crazy so I am looking forward to it."
