HOLYWELL TOWN successfully made it through to the next round of the North East Wales FA Challenge Cup with a 3-0 success at fellow Cymru North outfit Llay Welfare.

The Wellmen, who won the cup in 2023, took the lead in the sixth minute with Danny Sullivan’s header from a free kick.

It was Holywell - and Sullivan at the double - with a tidy 18th minute finish and Macauley Taylor’s strike two minutes later made it three.

Buckley Town are through following their 4-1 verdict at Broughton United.

It was a mixed evening for Broughton’s Jake Jones, who scored and was sent off. Connor Littler (2), Danny Burgess and Scott McHarrie netted for Asa Hamilton’s visitors.

Alex Webster’s double confirmed Corwen’s 2-0 triumph against Brickfield Rangers.

Jake Eyre’s first half hat-trick set Airbus on their way to a 5-0 triumph over Hawarden Rangers.

Kaiden Cooke and Sam Baker added second half strikes for the Cymru North leaders.

Cup holders Flint Mountain are out on the back of a 3-1 loss to Mold Alex in a repeat of last season’s final.

Fabrizio Murtas, Aidan Farren and Seydou Bamba netted for Barry Owen’s host, while Matty Scoular replied for Flint Mountain, who had Ryan Kershaw sent off.

Gresford Athletic lost 5-4 on penalties at Ruthin after their tie finished 3-3. Dave Forbes, James Smith and Alex Buxton found the target for Eddie Maurice-Jones’ side.

There’s one tie tonight, with Flint Town United at home to FC Queens Park.
