FREE-SCORING Connah’s Quay Nomads are on top spot in the FAW Reserves North East League after pummelling Prestatyn Town 9-1.

James Hughes and Josh Mather both hit doubles for Nomads, who have netted 32 goals in five league games.

They grabbed top spot from Flint Mountain, who also maintained their perfect record by winning 3-2 at Airbus.

Ben Lawrence (2) and Charlie Cottis got the goals with Hugh Holland grabbing both for Airbus.

Henry Catherall, Niall Griffiths and an own goal gave Buckley Town a 3-1 win at Llay Welfare while Gresford Athletic were 4-3 winners at St Asaph thanks to James Reynolds (2), Rob Reynolds and Lewis Roberts.

Marc Davies bagged a double in Holywell Town’s 4-4 draw at Denbigh Town while Ifan Jones was Mold Alex’s marksman in a 4-1 home defeat by NFA.

The New Saints beat Ruthin Town 5-2 while in Group B of the North East Wales Reserves Division, leaders Penyffordd Lions edged out Greenfield 3-2.

Sam Evans, Paul Jones and Sean Johnson got the goals with Ryan Jones and Dylan Ratcliffe replying.

Queen’s Park won 5-2 at Johnstown thanks to Gruffydd Rawlinson (2), Josh Venables, Bradley Sandford and Michael Jones.

It finished 4-4 between Lex XI and Castell Alun. Phil Stott hit a hat-trick for Lex for whom Michael Parry also scored. Ben Williams (2), Jamie Hardy and Niall Evans earned Alun a point.

In Group A, Leighton Jones, Thomas Williams, Nathan Jones, Theodore Williams, Ewen Dennis, Jacque Coates and Sam Antrobus were Llangollen Town’s scorers in a 7-2 victory over Penycae for whom Callum Dutton and Austin Owen replied.

Dion Gibbins (2) and Heitor Leitao netted in Cefn Albion’s 3-2 win at Ruthin Town.

Oliver Howarth (2), Michael Fleetwood and Caleb Jones were Mynydd Isa’s marksmen in a 4-0 North East Wales FA Reserves Cup win at Brymbo.

Rhos Aelwyd also enjoyed a 4-0 victory as they beat Saltney Town.
