MARCHWIEL AND WREXHAM have confirmed their promotion from Division Two.

A top-two finish was assured by a 58-run triumph at Menai Bridge seconds.

Muhammad Ghufran hit a crucial 86 as Marchwiel and Wrexham were all out for 189. The bowlers turned the screw as Bridge’s reply was restricted to 131 for nine (Matt Bixby 46 not out).

Phil Oddie (3-22) impressed for Marchwiel and Wrexham, who require 19 more points to make sure of the title.

Llay suffered a 115-run reverse from their trip to St Asaph seconds, who set 243 for six. Mike Phennah finished unbeaten on 39 in Llay’s 128 for eight..

Pontblyddyn seconds were on the wrong end of a 10-wicket loss at Llanrwst. Caron Williams and Robert Parry both bagged 3-6 in Pont’s 29 all out, while Llanrwst replied with 31 without loss.

Mochdre seconds ended up 35-run victors in their meeting versus Bangor seconds, while a busy weekend for Carmel & District witnessed a win and a loss.

On Saturday, Carmel got the better of Corwen by five wickets in a thrilling encounter.

Tom King (67 not out) and Harry Pooler (61) helped Corwen to amass 206 for five and Carmel got home on 207 for five (John Wildman 3-39) with one delivery to spare. Jonathan Fisher top scored with 38, while Jeivishnu Prithiviraj and Ryan Roberts both struck 34.

On Sunday, Carmel were beaten by 65 runs at Bangor seconds, who struck 185 for five (Lee Rowles 3-33). Roberts hit 51 in Carmel’s 120 all out.

A thrilling Division Three encounter saw Gwersyllt Park seconds pip Connah’s Quay seconds by a wicket.

Cole Hooson’s knock of 47 was the main contribution in Quay’s 144 all out (Ted Pearson 6-21).

Michael Griffiths’ 46 not out led Park to a winning 145 for nine (Chris Boden 3-19).

Mold seconds were just pipped by two wickets in their home clash versus Denbigh seconds, which was decided off the penultimate ball of the match.

Chris Boulton (47) and Liam Roberts (30) were the chief contributors in Mold’s initial 199 all out.

Gerallt Lyall took 3-29 and then struck 87 not out in Denbigh’s 202 for eight (Darren Nixon 57). Henry Roberts and Ian Noonan took two wickets apiece for Mold.

Buckley seconds stormed to a 257-run triumph at eight-player Halkyn seconds, who were unfortunate to find themselves being dismissed for just 18. Abbey Mayers took three wickets for Buckley, who had earlier amassed 275 for four (Samuel Jones 69, Mathew Edge 55 not out, Gary Mayers 52).

Bersham seconds kept their Division Four promotion aims on course with a nine-wicket success at Dolgellau seconds.

Santhu Kj finished with a 4-6 haul as Dolgellau were dismissed for 91. Derick Dineshan (34 not out) and Bibin Sunny (30 not out) then led Bersham to 94 for one.

Marchwiel and Wrexham seconds lost out by 39 runs at home to Ruthin seconds, who were dismissed for 210 (Toby Unsworth 81, Matthew Salisbury 4-6). Darshana Sanjeewa top scored with 78 in Marchwiel and Wrexham’s 171.

Hawarden Park thirds lost by 17 runs at Abergele seconds, who made 127 for nine (John Cooper 3-15). Time then ran out with Park on 110 for seven.
