WHAT a run of form Gresford are on at the moment.

Fresh from a triumph over Bangor, Matt Thompson’s side prevailed by seven wickets in their derby clash with Brymbo, who are chasing a runners-up finish in the Premier Division.

Skipper Dan Parry (59), Richard Deniz (34) and Connor Davies (36) were the leading scorers as Brymbo were dismissed for 193.

Chris Ellwood (4-16), Daniel Williams (2-15) and Simon Perry (2-28) impressed for Gresford, who achieved their victory target with more than 15 overs to spare.

Captain Thompson (80 not out) and Joe Benson (63) led the hosts to 197 for three.

It turned out to be a day of shocks with champions Mochdre losing out for only the second time this season in a 44-run reverse at home to Bangor, who set 219 for seven (Nadeem Rehman 66, Matty Humphreys 4-43).

Adam Campion’s 48 was the top contribution in Mochdre’s 175 (Franco Kasner 6-38).

Basement side Llandudno gained a three-wicket win at Denbigh, while Northop remain in the mix for a runners-up finish on the back of their 144-run win over Menai Bridge.

Jordan Evans (50), Elliot Colclough (42) and Ben Beaver (34) helped Northop to 221 for eight (Liam Bibby 3-29), while Ashraf Nawab (3-18) and captain Bart Ryan-Beswick (3-16) impressed when Bridge were skittled for 77.

Gwersyllt Park lost out by six wickets versus St Asaph, who amassed 124 for four (Mathew Ryan 33, Neil Pearson 3-37). Earlier, Lewis Cole’s 35 was the top score in Park’s 119 (Ryan 7-24).

The top-two finishers in Division One are now confirmed - and it’s now between Northop seconds and Bethesda for the title.

Leaders Northop suffered a four-wicket loss at Brymbo seconds, who struck 199 for six (James Claybrook 94 not out). This was in response to Northop’s 198 for eight (Henry Dowd 100 not out, Claybrook 3-42).

Bethesda, 14 points back in second, enjoyed an eight-wicket success versus Mold. Jon Crane (31 not out) top scored in Mold’s 148 for eight, before Carwyn L Williams finished unbeaten on 54 in the hosts’ 153 for two.

Buckley’s relegation was confirmed by a four-wicket reverse to Halkyn, while Connah’s Quay prevailed by six runs in a thriller at Pontblyddyn. Joshua Clarke (69) and Brody Camp (42) helped Quay to 201 and despite a knock of 56 from Gethin Thomas, Pontblyddyn just ended up short on 195 (Camp 3-34).

Ian Martin’s 3-3 return helped Hawarden Park get the better of Abergele (David Moulson 4-11) by 16 runs and Conwy beat Dolgellau by 106 runs.

There was a Shropshire League thriller as Chirk pipped Cound by one run.

Andrew Swarbrick (82) and Liam Walker (51) were the top contributors in Chirk’s 254 (Andrew Harrison 4-56) and off the final ball of their innings, Cound were all out for 253 (Connor Glendinning 141, Swarbrick 4-43).

In the Liverpool Competition, Northop Hall eased to a seven-wicket win over Parkfield Liscard, who were all out for 107 (Liam Evans Ford 5-37, Nathan Roett 4-45). Matthew Jones (58 not out) led Hall to 110 for three.
