IT’S time to discus a clutch of triumphs!

Wrexham AAC members were out in force at the Speermeister Discus Throws event in Ormskirk, where victories were taken by Seren Fidow (U11 girls), Ellis Jones (U11 boys), Tomasi Fidow (U13 boys) and Sally Jones (W40), while Annabelle Jones was runner-up in the U15 girls’ section.

Successes also came as Wrexham hosted a Welsh junior development league fixture.

Alexander Graham (6.33m) won the U11 boys’ shot put and there were double triumphs for Tegan Graham (U13 girls), Isabella Bennett (U15 girls) and Noah Thomas (U15 boys).

Tegan won the discus (14.47m) and javelin (20.04m), Isabella succeeded in the discus (21.41m) and javelin (21.34m), while Noah Thomas triumphed in the discus (17.56m) and 1500m (5-34.46).

Macey Quick and Seren Graham also competed, while Ryan Davis (14.54) was 34th at the Mid Cheshire 5k, in Kingsley.

Among the other Wrexham AAC vests on show were Connor Rogers (66th in 15.11), Luke Northall (107th in 15.35) and Daniel Weston (185th in 16.17).

Davis and Northall represented Wales, as did Deestrider Angela Deeley, who ran a stunning personal of 19.38, coming in just behind Matt Davies (19.36).

Seven Deestriders took part in the Cilcain mountain race, with four taking age prizes in the race that incorporated the North Wales mountain running championships.

They were MV45 champion Paul Lewtey (50.00), LV55 champion Bernice Matthews (77.25), second LV40 Christine Cammillare (47.44) and third LV50 Debbie Parry (58.18).

Fred Aird completed the Blackpool night run in 38.20, whilst fellow Deestrider Graham Bryan, running with son Joshua, did it in 52.17.

Sarah Monteith kicked off her 50th birthday celebrations in style at Ellesmere Port parkrun, where she ran 37.18.

Over at Wepre, Max Dowell claimed a brilliant 35-second victory in 20.40.

Martin Witty (2-52.46), Paul Lewtey (3-15.39) and Mike Norris (3-15.54) competed in the standard distance triathlon at Bala. Witty severely broke his leg in a cycling accident in summer 2023 and this was his first tri event since.

Wrexham’s Oliver Edwards (52.37) competed in the senior men’s 400m at the Charnwood AC open meeting, while clubmates John Davies (130th in 41.02) and Charles Ashley (84th in 2-24.54) raced the Altrincham 10k and Gladstone 9 fell race respectively.

Emma Holmes, meanwhile, pocketed a bronze medal at the World Under 20 Track and Field Championships in Peru.

The West Cheshire Athletic Club teenager represented Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the 4x400m relay during the prestigious fixture held in Lima.
