MARCHWIEL AND WREXHAM must play the waiting game in their quest to lift the Division Two title.
The leaders suffered just their third defeat of the campaign as visitors Carmel & District impressed in a 24-run outcome.
Gresford Seconds continued their battle to beat the drop by getting the better of Bangor seconds by 88 runs.
Sam Burke (51), Tomos Roberts (36) and David Baker (33) made their mark with the bat in Gresford’s initial 183 for eight.
Burke completed an excellent all-round showing by grabbing four for 24 in Bangor’s reply of 94.
It was a terrific day for the bottom-two, with basement side Bersham claiming a crushing 100-run victory away to Pontblyddyn.
Santhu Kj (86 not out) helped Bersham to accumulate an imposing 254 for seven before Jack Deary (46) then top scored in Pontblyddyn’s 154.
Second-placed Mochdre seconds eased to an eight-wicket success at home to Llanrwst, with Scott Roberts finishing on 66 not out for the high-flyers, while St Asaph seconds triumphed by 62 runs at Menai Bridge seconds.
A cracking chase has seen Hawarden Park Seconds haul themselves into the Division Three promotion places.
It looked tough going for Park at the midway point of proceedings after hosts Denbigh seconds got to 238 for four.
Gerallt Lyall (70) and Darren Nixon (54 not out) had Denbigh in a strong position, while Jack Williams picked up two wickets for Hawarden Park.
However, the visitors managed to respond with a winning 239 for six with an over to spare. Leading the chase with a brilliant 108 was Luke Bennett, supported by skipper Haseeb Hanif Bikya (51).
Mold Seconds got the better of Connah’s Quay Seconds by 34 runs. Batting first, Mold were all out for 194 (Craig Roberts 63, Osian Edwards 3-25).
Hashmat Safi then struck 81 in Quay’s 160 (Chris Boulton 5-27, Roberts 3-12).
Halkyn Seconds were defeated by 25 runs at Conwy seconds, who amassed 236 for five (Toby Watson 65, Philip Michael Davies 55, Finlay Rooke Hart 2-29).
Rooke Hart made a superb 107 in Halkyn’s 211 for seven (Shaun Gibson 42).
In the match of the day, leaders Pwllheli made sure of promotion with their 24-run triumph at high-flying rivals Ruthin. Jac Evans struck 74 for Ruthin, who slipped to third in the table.
Nick Husbands was in terrific form as Marchwiel and Wrexham Seconds gained a 119-run Division Four success at Corwen Seconds.
Husbands finished on 117 not out in Marchwiel and Wrexham’s imposing 290 for two (Mike Lee 75 not out). Rob Storey’s 67 was the leading contribution in Corwen’s 171 (Caitlin Rooney 3-19).
Hawarden Park Thirds got the better of Dolgellau seconds by 60 runs after amassing 170 for five (Jo Robinson 70). Dolgellau were then restricted to 110 for four (V Kumar 2-11).
Mynydd Isa & Maeshafn lost out by 110 runs in their home encounter with leaders Llandudno seconds (Luke Regan 60). Deepak Loguchetty struck 51 out of Mynydd Isa & Maeshafn’s 84 all out (Mike Gwynne 5-18).
Abergele Seconds eased to a 154-run success at Llanrwst seconds. Jismon Ty hit 100 not out for Abergele.
Brymbo Thirds moved top of the Sunday League after beating previous leaders Mold Thirds by 13 runs.
