THERE has been a lack of game-time for some of his summer signings but Phil Parkinson insists their turn will come.

Although Arthur Okonkwo and George Dobson have become regulars  in Parkinson’s starting line-up and Sebastian Revan and Ollie Rathbone have had opportunities, but centre-backs Lewis Brunt and Dan Scarr have not featured in any of the four opening League One games which saw Wrexham emerge unbeaten with 10 points from a possible 12 to sit second in the table.

Both players started the 4-1 defeat to Sheffield United in the Carabao Cup but Scarr has been an unused substitute so far in the league with Brunt not even making the bench.

Max Cleworth, Eoghan O'Connell and Tom O'Connor, who formed the back three when Wrexham clinched a second promotion in a row from League Two last season, have kept their places in defence but Parkinson has urged all his players to be ready to take their chance.

"In my time here, we have given the existing lads who have done well for us the opportunity because they deserve that," said the Reds' boss.

"But as the season goes on, as we know it is about the squad and being able to make changes to freshen the team up when the midweek games come.

"Lewis and Dan understand the situation. They have come in, they both had really good seasons and were key players at their previous clubs.

"Equally, the lads already here have done really well but they are pushing really hard which is great and their opportunities will come, sometimes when you least expect it."

Striker Mo Faal, who joined Wrexham from West Brom for an undisclosed fee on transfer deadline day, was an unused substitute on Saturday when Wrexham won 2-0 at Peterborough United to continue the unbeaten start to the season.

The likes of Brunt and Scarr have had to bide their time but Parkinson, preparing for Saturday's cross-border derby against rivals Shrewsbury Town at The Racecourse, feels the summer signings have fitted in well at The Racecourse.

"It is good to integrate all the new lads," he added.

"Mo came in and only trained with the lads on Friday so it is going to be an important week for him on the training pitch."
