NORTH WALES CRUSADERS have ended their League One campaign on a high.
Despite missing out on a place in the play-offs, Cru can take plenty of positives from their 40-10 success over Cornwall at Colwyn Bay’s Stadiwm CSM.
Head coach Carl Forster, in his last match before retiring from playing, took his place in Crusaders’ starting line-up.
It was North Wales who grabbed the lead after nine minutes with a debut try from Lloyd Evans.
Back came Cornwall, though, and Harry Aaronson’s 13th minute score levelled things up.
Crusaders responded to this setback and three tries saw them pull clear.
Forster marked his final appearance by racing through for the next score, which was duly converted by Dan Moss.
Soon afterwards, Ryan Ellis finished things off for Cru’s third try and Moss was again on the money with the extras.
Try number four was supplied by Matt Reid and Moss kicked his third successful conversion to make sure the hosts had a healthy 22-4 advantage at the break.
Cornwall opened the second half scoring with Adam Rusling’s converted effort, but Crusaders were soon back on the attack.
Chris Barratt, Reid and Ellis all crossed the whitewash as the home side extended their lead.
Champions Oldham thrashed Workington Town 56-0, while second-placed Keighley lost 32-18 at Rochdale. Hunslet won 28-22 at Midlands Hurricanes on Saturday.
