FIVE-STAR Connah’s Quay Nomads have finally found their feet this season.

Completing a fine week, Nomads claimed a fine 5-1 success away to Briton Ferry Llansawel, making it two wins out of two for new boss Billy Paynter.

Paynter, who opened his tenure with Monday’s 1-0 derby win over Flint, wanted to see more of an attacking threat during his second game in charge.

He told Quay’s X site: “Really impressed with the lads today.

“I demanded more of an attacking threat. Even though going a goal down, still believed in the lads that we had the quality to affect the game.

“So, it was more of a reaction. The lads didn’t drop their heads and we showed a positive reaction and we got a good handful of goals.”

Luke Bowen’s goal had Briton Ferry Llansawel in the lead after just four minutes, but captain John Disney was a key element as Nomads fought back.

He provided an assist for Fumpa Mwandwe’s equaliser and Disney’s penalty gave the visitors the lead seven minutes into the second period.

Further efforts from Aron Williams, Rhys Hughes and Tyler Berry made sure of Quay’s comfortable triumph, which moved them up to fifth in the standings.

Flint Town United are still searching for their first point of the campaign after they suffered an agonising 3-2 loss at Barry.

Lee Fowler’s Silkmen appeared on course to break their duck as they held a 2-0 advantage at the interval, but Barry turned things around in the second half.

Flint had the lead in the 20th minute as Florian Yonsian set up Josh Jones to slot home.

After opportunities went the way of Isaac Lee and Ben Wynne, Flint doubled their advantage when Jake Phillips supplied the assist and Yonsian did the rest to make it 2-0.

Barry were awarded a penalty for handball just two minutes after the restart and Keenan Patten pulled one back.

Sam Snaith’s header from a corner levelled things up and Ollie Hulbert grabbed the winner midway through the second period.

Fowler felt his side should have been out of reach by the interval and he told S4C’s Sgorio: “First half, we should have been completely out of the way, the chances we missed and then second half, they came out for 15 minutes.

“They brought Snaith on and just absolutely bullied us for 15 minutes.”

Leading the way are Penybont, who got the better of Bala Town 2-1.

Kieran Lloyd gave the Lakesiders an early lead, but Bala were reduced to 10 men after half-an-hour when George Newell picked up his second yellow card.

Penybont took full advantage to turn things around with second half strikes from James Crole and Clayton Green.

Matthew Chubb and Ryan Reynolds made sure of Cardiff Met’s 2-1 triumph at Caernarfon Town, who hit back through Louis Lloyd.

On Friday evening, Lee Jenkins, Iori Humphreys and Owain Jones confirmed Haverfordwest’s 3-0 win over Newtown, who had Zeli Ismael sent off.
