CARL FORSTER is looking for North Wales Crusaders to complete a disappointing season on a winning note.
Crusaders, who have missed out on a place in the end of season play-offs, bring the curtain down on their League One campaign with Sunday’s home clash against Cornwall.
Tickets for the match are available for free and season tickets for next season will go on sale this Sunday.
It will be the final game of head coach Forster’s playing career and he told CruCast: “From a real selfish point of view, for me, I want to win the game.
“I want to, obviously, look back and I might not look back at North Wales versus Cornwall last game as a career highlight, but you want to go out on a win.
“You want that feeling on Sunday when the final whistle goes that, ultimately, it’s not disappointment.
“You want to walk out with your chest high, chin up and you’ve won the game.
“So, our first port of call is to win the game. That, for me as a coach, as a player, that’s the competitor in me that the win’s the most important thing.
“Although it doesn’t really matter to any kind of league table, we want to win the game and I’m sure Ben Evans, 250 game, he’ll want to win that and the lads leaving, they’ll want to go out on a high.
“So, it’s a win at all costs, that’s the attitude for me.”
Crusaders needed a victory at Rochdale Hornets last weekend to maintain their push for a top-six finish, however they suffered a 28-10 defeat.
Workington Town’s 46-0 defeat of Newcastle Thunder made sure Crusaders missed out on a play-off berth.
Looking ahead to Sunday, Forster added:“We’ve got that relaxed attitude that we can kind of go out there and, you know, you might throw a pass that you might not normally do in a six-all against Rochdale, but you can chance your arm and go for it and, hopefully, put a show on for the fans.
“Hopefully, they come out in numbers. Attract some new fans and hopefully show them a glimpse of what next year could look like.”
The weekend League One action opens with Midlands Hurricanes hosting Hunslet tomorrow.
On Sunday, champions Oldham are at home to Workington Town and runners-up Keighley Cougars head to Rochdale Hornets.
