NORTHOP SECONDS are within sight of the Division One title after their eight-wicket win over basement side Buckley.

Chris Geary top scored with 24 in Buckley’s 124 all out (Tom Sudder 4-16) and Northop then won it with 125 for two (Charlie Collins 56 not out).

Mold’s promotion aims suffered a blow with an 82-run reverse at Halkyn, who struck 163 for eight (Ben Roberts 58, Isaac Allen 3-40). Later in the day, Roberts picked up 5-22 as Mold were dismissed for 81.

In a thriller, Hawarden Park pipped Brymbo Seconds by one run. Evan Shaw (58) helped Park to 150 for seven (Gareth Pugh 3-46) and Brymbo just finished up short on 149 for nine (Sam Aplin 58, Campbell Marr 3-26).

Connah’s Quay lost out by 17 runs at Conwy, who were dismissed for 193 (Mali Auty 3-52). Brody Camp (59) top scored in Quay’s 176 for nine (Tom Plank 4-37).

Pontblyddyn lost out by two wickets to Dolgellau after setting 207 for five (Gethin Thomas 79 not out, Nick Thomas 50). Sion Francis (76 not out) led Dolgellau to a winning 210 for eight.

Bethesda defeated Abergele by nine wickets, while Carmel & District and Mochdre seconds played out a Division Two tie, both sides finishing on 153 for seven.

Llay’s promotion aims were dealt a real blow by a 10-wicket defeat at Bangor seconds, who finished on 173 without loss (Chris Barry 76no, Jamie Davies 76no). This was in response to Llay’s 169 for nine (Jack Edwards 59).

Gresford Seconds’ push to reach safety continued with their 51-run success at Corwen, who were restricted to 139 for seven (Simon Harrison 52 not out, Gez Jones 3-20). Earlier, Danny Griffin struck 64 in Gresford’s 190 all out (William Pooler 5-19).

Bersham suffered a five-wicket loss in their home meeting with St Asaph seconds, while Menai Bridge seconds defeated Llanrwst by three wickets.

Hawarden Park seconds are just four points off the Division Three promotion spots following their 129-run triumph at Buckley seconds.

Martin Hinton (64) and Haseeb Hanif Bikya (60 not out) helped Park to amass 251 for five and Jon Whitnall (46) top scored in Buckley’s 122 (Ahmed Javed 4-24, Jack Williams 4-28).

Halkyn Seconds’ trek to Caernarfon ended in a 37-run loss. Mohsin Khan (76) and Monis Altaf (55) were the stars in Caernarfon’s 210 for four and Shaun Gibson finished unbeaten on 63 in Halkyn’s 173 for eight.

Mold seconds lost out by four wickets versus leaders Pwllheli, while Gwersyllt Park seconds defeated second-placed Ruthin by 96 runs.

Shashika Meistry (54 retired not out) and Jack Watkins (52 not out) led Park to 212 for five and Ruthin were restricted to 116 for eight (Michael Griffiths 4-20).

Connah’s Quay Seconds were beaten by six wickets at home to Bethesda seconds, who amassed 167 for four (Jez Shea 59 not out). This was in response to Quay’s 165 (Liam Cappiello 30).

Denbigh seconds got the better of Conwy seconds by four wickets, while in Division Four, Marchwiel and Wrexham seconds suffered a 116-run reverse at Abergele seconds.

David Holmes (61) led the way in Abergele’s 175 for seven, before Marchwiel and Wrexham were restricted to 59 for eight (Sebin Sebastion 4-17).

Llanrwst seconds defeated Ruthin seconds by 87 runs in the other encounter.
