CALUM MCINTYRE says a four-point bank holiday weekend will be a good National League North return for Chester.

The Blues secured a 2-2 draw from Saturday’s testing trip to Alfreton Town and now they can look forward to today’s home clash with Scarborough Athletic. Manager McIntyre told Chester FC TV: “Recognise that we want to put some points on the board.

“We can turn this into a really good point if we’re able to follow that up with three on Monday in a home fixture.

“So, satisfied rather than happy, but particularly pleased with some aspects of the performance for sure.”

It was Chester who took the lead in the 36th minute at Alfreton.

Kurt Willoughby grabbed his first goal back for the Blues since rejoining on loan from Oldham Athletic with a curling effort.

Alfreton managed to turn things around with efforts from Jeb Abbey and David Moyo, but Chester levelled things up with 18 minutes left to play.

Iwan Murray, in his 100th appearance for the side, supplied the cross and Charlie Caton fired home.

Scarborough moved up to second in the table with their 2-1 triumph over Farsley Celtic, while leaders Scunthorpe United, who go to South Shields today, drew 1-1 with Chorley.
