PHIL PARKINSON will always aim high and says settling for mid-table mediocrity could end in disaster.

The 56-year-old has led Wrexham to back-to-back promotions, with the Reds lining up in League One for the first time in 19 years.

Although it promises to be a highly competitive division, with Wrexham coming up against the likes of Birmingham, Huddersfield and Charlton, it's not in Parkinson's nature not to set his sights on challenging for an unprecedented third promotion in a row.

"Every season I have ever been in as a manager or a player, you have got to aim to be at the top," said the Reds' boss.

"That is not getting carried away because if you aim for the middle then you can end up in the bottom.

"We have got to have dreams but there are so many teams in this division who will fancy their chances this season."

Wrexham made the perfect start on their return to the third tier, clinching a 3-2 win against Wycombe Wanderers at The Racecourse on the opening day.

Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney were in attendance and Parkinson says it is always a huge boost having the multi-millionaire actors at matches.

"It was great to see them," added Parkinson, whose side drew 0-0 at Bolton Wanderers on Sunday to maintain the unbeaten start in League One.

"I have always said that when Rob, Ryan and Humphrey Kerr are here, there is an electricity in the place.

"They are great at relaxing everybody and we always enjoy it when they come over.

"It's difficult because it is a long way from the USA and they are both very busy but when they come over, there is a real lift around the place; not just in the dressing room but around the ground as well."
