CHESTER will be hoping it’s a case of third time lucky this evening.

After opening their National League North season with two defeats, the Blues will aim to put things right as they host Radcliffe tonight.

The visitors are managed by former Chester bosses Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley (pictured), and Blues’ boss Calum McIntyre is anticipating another tough test.

He told Chester FC TV: “A Radcliffe side that have recruited, over the last 12 months - slightly longer than that - some of the best players in the division.

“Players that walk into sides at this level and it won’t be any easier when we go to Alfreton and when Scarborough come here and Peterborough Sports.

“It’s a tough division and that’s why (we) have to be calm and not get carried away when results aren’t great in terms of two games.”

Chester lost out 1-0 at home to Brackley Town in their last run-out, which followed a 3-0 opening day loss at Spennymoor.

Speaking after the loss to Brackley, McIntyre added: “I think we have to have today as foundations around being competitive, which was streets ahead of where we were last week. But we have to be better in possession, we have to make more passes... that will allow us to be a bit more creative.”
