PHIL PARKINSON hailed Wrexham's resilience after keeping a first clean sheet of the campaign.

The Reds, back in League One following a 19 year absence after winning two promotions in a row, beat Wycombe Wanderers 3-2 on the opening day and followed it up by drawing 0-0 with Bolton Wanderers at The Toughsheet Community Stadium on Sunday.

Bolton, beaten by Oxford in the play-off final last season, are one of the favourites to go up once again and had spells where they were on top but Wrexham dug in to register a hard fought point and maintain the unbeaten start in the the third tier.

"We conceded two goals at home to Wycombe and it was important that we tried to learn from that game, and I felt we did that," said Parkinson.

"There was a real resilience about us as a team and we can take a lot of heart from a draw.

"The first away point of the season is always an important one and the first clean sheet so we pleased.

"The lads have put a lot of effort in but every game is like that.

"The hard yards have got to be ran and I felt we did that."

Parkinson says his players responded well against Bolton - one of his former clubs - after the Reds switched off against Wycombe on the first day.

"We were comfortable at times against Wycombe; certainly in the first half we played really well," he said.

"Then we rested on the 2-0 lead at times and we got punished for that.

"We spoke to the lads about how we were going to respond in certain parts of the match and we did that well."
