MICHAEL WILLIAMSON says he is "privileged" to be part of the Wrexham story.

Appointed as the club's new chief executive officer in May, Williamson comes with global experience having spent many years on the board at Inter Milan, and he also held roles with DC United and most recently Miami FC in the United States.

Wrexham, bank-rolled by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, are back in League One for the first time in 19 years after clinching two promotions in a row.

In his programme notes for Saturday's opening clash with Wycombe Wanderers at The Racecourse, which Phil Parkinson's men won 3-2, Williamson wrote: "This is an exciting time to part of this football club, and I join an organisation with big ambitions and a real sense of momentum after back-to-back promotions and our unprecedented growth off the pitch.

"When speaking to Rob and Ryan about the club, community and their vision, I immediately sensed the genuineness of their intent and understood this was about more than creating a club to win championships (that's clearly an important one!) but also about serving the community.

"I am privileged to be part of this story and to serve as a custodian of such an historic club."

He added: "We continue to make investments to grow our success, including a multi-pound development of our academy training facility, the return of the expanded temporary Kop stand, the launch of the Kop Fanzone, and we work diligently to enhance and improve areas within the stadium and the surrounding community.

"From stadium network enhancements to fan experiences on matchday and non-matchday, to providing top-level facilities for our teams and academy, we will strive to grow our story further.

"We will be ambitious in our goals but we will also be kind in our approach."
