SEBASTIAN REVAN had mixed emotions after his first goal for Wrexham proved to be just a consolation strike.
Brought in from Aston Villa for an undisclosed fee ahead of the new League One campaign, Revan struck in added time as the Reds suffered a 4-2 defeat at Championship outfit Sheffield United in Tuesday's Carabao Cup first round tie.
It proved to be bittersweet for the wing-back who impressed during a loan spell at Rotherham in the second tier last season.
"I wanted to come here and get the win, get the result for the team, that’s first and foremost," said Raven.
"Unfortunately that didn’t happen but it’s always nice to get a goal."
When asked what he considers his main attributes, he continued: "My one v ones, attacking and defending, so hopefully I can help us keep the ball out of the net and put the ball in the other net.
"I’m a defender first, but I love to attack, it’s something I enjoy so I love to get forward when I can and luckily I got the goal.
"It wasn’t enough but it’s always a good personal achievement."
Revan went close to scoring in each half before reducing the deficit with his last-gasp goal.
"I kept trying, the first chance was unlucky and the second one I should have done better, but luckily the third one was a charm," he said.
"It was amazing to get the first goal, unfortunately it wasn’t in better circumstances but for personal pride it was good."
Revan is looking to build on the 3-2 win at home to Wycombe Wanderers on the opening day of the League One season when Wrexham head to Bolton Wanderers on Sunday.
"We had a good start to the league season by getting a first win," said the 21-year-old.
"Hopefully we can keep winning, keep picking up points and climb up the table."
A substitute against Wycombe, Revan made his full debut at Bramall Lane and he hoping for a starting role this weekend.
"Everybody would love to start but if not, I will be ready when called upon," he added.
