SCORERS were kept busy by promotion chasers in Division Two.
Llay racked up 260 for seven in their latest success, but this was eclipsed by front-runners Marchwiel and Wrexham, who compiled an imposing 290 for six.
Marchwiel and Wrexham’s effort came in a 128-run success at home to Bersham.
Sam Shoemark (85), Matt Lawrenson (50) and Scott Lawrenson (45) helped the leaders to roll along at a rate in excess of seven runs per over, while Rathnayaka Mudiyanselage Shanka (3-52) enjoyed some joy with the ball.
Sathyajith Ihalagama (41) then top scored in Bersham’s 162, with two wickets apiece going the way of Scott Lawrenson, Muhammad Ghufran, Anthony Morris and Shoemark.
Third-placed Llay got the better of Menai Bridge seconds by 141 runs in their match. Joe Howell (95) and Jack Honey (67) were Llay’s top batsmen, while Tom Parry (3-14) played his part in restricting Bridge to 119 for seven (Edward Gadsby 58).
Second-placed Mochdre seconds claimed a nine-wicket win over Pontblyddyn seconds, who were all out for 144 (David Evans 95). Mochdre responded with 146 for one (J Davies 77 not out).
There was a seven-wicket success for Carmel & District at Gresford seconds, who were restricted to 128 for six (Danny Griffin 60 not out, Dom Green 2-25).
Ben Sim’s unbeaten 93 led Carmel to 131 for three (Ryan Williams 2-32).
In a thriller, St Asaph seconds pipped Denbighshire rivals Corwen by one run.
Russell Moore top scored with 39 in the Saints’ 154 for five (Richard Hughes 3-26) and Corwen came up just short on 153 for six (Rob Storey 62, Liam Moores 3-24).
Elsewhere, Bangor seconds’ Joe Maltby took four wickets in his side’s nine-wicket victory over Llanrwst.
Division Three leaders Ruthin continued their promotion push via a nine-wicket triumph at home to Hawarden Park seconds.
Jack Williams finished unbeaten on 26 in Park’s 117 for nine (Osian Roberts 3-25) and Jac Evans’ undefeated 69 helped to ease Ruthin to 122 for one.
Bowlers were to the fore in triumphs for Gwersyllt Park seconds and Mold seconds.
Park claimed an eight-wicket outcome over Bethesda seconds after dismissing their opponents for 90.
Keith Embleton (4-1) and Craig Roberts (2-4) played their part in dismissing Halkyn seconds for 51, before Mold replied with 52 for one.
Connah’s Quay seconds lost out by 22 runs during their trip to Conwy seconds, who amassed 176 for three (Carwyn Thomas 47, Philip Michael Davies 47). Aaron Pearson struck 38 in Quay’s 154 (Alex Price 4-39).
Pwllheli maintained their promotion aims with a comfortable 137-run success at Caernarfon.
Chirk seconds lost a thrilling Division Seven encounter at Albrighton seconds by one wicket.
Rob Williams (79) top scored in Chirk’s 231 (Esther Hurford 4-36) and Hardeep Kumar cracked 163 in Albrighton’s 232 for nine (Harry Lunt 4-34).
In the Liverpool Competition, Northop Hall seconds thrashed Fleetwood Hesketh seconds by 166 runs.
