THERE CAN be few things more satisfying for any football fan than watching their team scored a wonderful goal.

Wrexham AFC returned to EFL League One for the first time in 19 years on Saturday (August 10).

And Phil Parkinson's side made it a day to remember by securing a brilliant 3-2 win over Wycombe Wanderers.

And, if that was enough, they did so in front of a bumper crowd of 13,214 people - including co-chairmen Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

Those watching on were treated to a host of great goals with Max Cleworth, Jack Marriott and Steven Fletcher on the scoresheet for the victorious Reds.

And Marriott's goal was the absolute pick of the bunch.

Ollie Palmer flicked the ball off to his fellow attacker who then chested it down brilliantly and volleyed past Wycombe keeper Nathan Bishop into the top corner of the net from just inside area.

You can watch that strike from a different angle via Wrexham AFC here ...

It was a certain contender for goal of the season already on matchday one!

In the absence of star man Paul Mullin through injury, it was Marriott who stepped up to provide the spark for Wrexham and provide a Man of the Match performance.

Up next for the Reds is a midweek trip to old foes Sheffield United in the EFL Cup on Tuesday (August 13).

Wrexham will then face a tricky league trip to Bolton Wanderers on Sunday (August 18).
