CHIRK AAA forward Jayden Sheil (pictured right) had a goalscoring debut to remember for Chirk AAA and his performance at Felinfach was enough to earn the 16-year-old the Welsh Cup player of the round award.

“It was a proud moment for Sheil’s family, with the youngster following in the footsteps of his great-grandfather Pat in playing for Chirk AAA,”read a Football Association of Wales statement.

“Jayden will hope to have similar success to Pat, who won a youth cap for Cymru in 1953 – the same year he won the FAW Youth Cup with Chirk. He would go on to also lift the FAW Amateur Trophy with the club in 1959 and 1960.”

Chirk, who are back in Ardal North East League action at Builth Wells tomorrow, have been rewarded with a home tie against Llangefni Town in the second qualifying round on August 23.

Cefn Albion, who beat Chirk 2-0 in Ardal League midweek action, will also be at home to Penrhyndeudraeth.

One of the ties of the round will be at Connah’s Quay Town where Brickfield Rangers are the visitors.

Rhostyllen, FC Queen’s Park, Llangollen Town, Rhos Aelwyd and Rhydymwyn have all been handed home ties against St Asaph City, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Y Felinheli, Gaerwen and Boded respectively.

Penyffordd Lions will head to Llannefydd while Penycae visit Carno.

Other northern section ties: Llanuwchllyn v Berriew; Corwen v Montgomery Town; Cemaes Bay v Llanrwst Utd; Llanberis v Bontnewydd; Penmaenmawr v Pwllheli; Trearddur Bay v Llanfairfechan; Kinmel Bay v Bow; Amlwch v Porthmadog; Bro Cernyw v Llandudno Amateurs; Talysarn v Llandrindod Wells; Nefyn Utd v Menai Bridge Tigers; Cerrigydrudion v Llansantffraid; Llanrhaeadr v Llanystumdwy; Llansannan v Conwy Boro; Rhyl 1879 v Glan Conwy; NFA v Henllan; Holyhead Hotspur v Bethesda Ath.

Flint Mountain might have been knocked out of the Welsh League Cup but they won’t be complaining if they beat Caersws at home tomorrow.

The reward for avoiding defeat against their mid-Wales visitors will be top spot in Cymru North - something that will delight boss Aden Shannon.

He wants his side, promoted as the Ardal North West League champions, to be top six challengers.

“We want to be challenging with the top teams,” said Shannon, who was beaming after a stunning start at home to Ruthin Town a week ago where Mike Hayes hit a hat-trick in a 7-0 success.
