SKIPPY and Bellevue put on a great show in their North East Wales Championship meeting.

The sides finished in the bottom two last season but kicked off this campaign with a 3-3 draw, Bobby Gregory, Ross Hughes and Adam Sumner on target for Skippy.

New boys Broughton United went top after beating Brymbo 2-1. Lewis Hopwood and Elliott Evans got the goals with Jack Smallman replying.

Dwayne Jones, Rob Cooper, Michal Dugine and Dewi Reeves earned Johnstown a 4-0 win over Deeside Dragons while Yr Wyddgrug’s marksmen in a 3-1 win at Cei Connah were Gethin Thomas (2) and David Jones. Scott Roberts hit back for Cei.

Overton Recreational beat Acton 3-2 thanks to a double from super sub Blessing Osilaja. Peter Thedens also netted with Seb Kidd bagging both for Acton.

FC Queen’s Park’s good start to the season continued

The revamped Reserves North East League kicks off this weekend with champions Connah’s Quay Nomads making the short trip to Mold Alex.

There’s two other derbies as Flint Mountain welcome Holywell Town while Airbus head to Buckley Town.

Llay Welfare visit Prestatyn Town and NFA take on Denbigh Town tonight.

Mynydd Isa and Penycae enjoyed good wins in Group A of the Reserves Division.

Oli Howarth hit a hat-trick and set up goals for Michael Fleetwood and Kobie Betts in a 5-0 thrashing of Saltney Town.

Penycae beat Rhos Aelwyd 3-0 thanks to Josh Mazzarella (2) and Tomos Hughes.

Whalen Mwebe fired four goals in Llangollen Town’s 5-2 win against Brickfield Rangers for whom Harvey Jones and Leo Parker scored. George Roberts was Llan’s other scorer.

Ruthin Town beat Corwen 3-1 while in Group B, it finished 4-4 between Connah’s Quay Town and Penyffordd Lions.

Jack Pyke-Jones, Owen Davies and Gareth Higgins all scored in the last 20 minutes for the Lions, who were 4-1 down.

Luke Maddocks also netted with Andy Jones (3) and Scott Massey on target for the hosts.

Phil Stott (2) and Alex Palmer earned Lex XI a 3-2 win over FC Queen’s Park for whom Ben White and Richard Jones hit back.
