LEE FOWLER wants his Flint Town United side to respect the opposition... until they cross the white line!

The Silkmen will be plying their trade in Welsh football’s top flight once again this season and the competitive campaign opens with tonight’s testing Welsh League Cup trip to The New Saints.

“We’re going to treat every single team with no respect, That’s no respect on the pitch, because we’ve got respect for the managers and the clubs.”

Craig Harrison’s Saints may have one eye on the continuation of their European campaign.

After losing out to Ferencváros in the Champions League, the Saints now tackle Moldova’s FC Petrocub in the Europa League. The first leg is in Moldova next Tuesday.

Holywell Town boss Johnny Haseldin has been making a case for the defence ahead of tomorrow’s cup encounter at home to Llay Welfare.

The Wellmen have opened the campaign with back-to-back clean sheets and Haseldin said: “Well, something we have always kind of encouraged and based our teams around is being defensively solid.

“Both games have been different tests. We were good in possession on Saturday and scored some really good goals.

“But, ultimately, it’s lads at the back that gives us the solid foundation.”
