CONNAH’S QUAY TOWN make their Ardal North West League bow tonight - against a Corwen team they know all about.
Corwen won the North East Wales League’s Premier Division last season as Town’s title bid petered out in the run-in.
Tonight they meet in Corwen with Town boss Gavin Parry wanting to make amends.
“We let ourselves down against Corwen last season,” said Parry, whose side go into the game on the back of a 4-3 Welsh Cup win at Llanrug United.
“We’re miles better than that and I’m hoping we can show that on Wednesday and get off to a good start.
“We’ve had a couple of more signings through the door this week. One is available and one isn’t.
“So that’s nine new signings and the squad looks really strong going into our first league game.”
Corwen, who have lost last season’s top scorer Owen Cordiner to Mold Alex, sneaked a 3-2 Welsh Cup win at Lex XI.
Conwy Borough host Y Felinheli, Llannefydd visit St Asaph City and on Anglesey, it’s Holyhead Hotspur at home to Trearddur Bay.
Brickfield Rangers - for whom Andy Vale scored twice in an impressive 6-0 win at Mynydd Isa in the Welsh Cup - make their debut in the North East League after making the switch from the North West zone.
Gareth Wilson’s side host Penycae looking to kick off the campaign with a home win.
Llandrindod Wells welcome Radnor Valley and Builth Wells go to Llanidloes Town in tonight’s other games.
Two of the teams relegated from the North West League last season clash in the North East Wales Premier Division this evening.
Hawarden Rangers host Saltney Town while Mynydd Isa will aim to bounce back from Saturday’s heavy home defeat to Brickfield by beating Caerwys at home.
Greenfield make the trip along the coast road to Gronant while there’s two cracking derbies in Wrexham,
