LLAY triumphed in the top two Division Two showdown at Marchwiel Hall.

A 28-run win cuts Marchwiel and Wrexham’s lead to 24 points after Jack Edwards starred with the ball for Llay taking 3-5 from four overs.

George Forgrave did his best for the leaders, smashing 91 in the hosts’ 171.

Earlier Jacob Roberts (61), man of the match Edwards (42) and Jack Honey (41) had taken Llay to 199 for six from their 40 overs.

Pontblyddyn Seconds celebrated a three-wicket home win over Menai Bridge Seconds, who were bowled out for 136.

Fraser Keay (5-17) and Gareth Jones (3-22) bowled well for Pont, whose top scorer in their reply of 137 for seven was captain Dave Evans (41).

Bersham were bundled out for just 67 after Mochdre Seconds had put 149 for nine on the scoreboard.

Nilanka De Silva took 4-19 for Bersham but Mochdre’s Finlay Jones (4-17) bettered that.

Corwen could only make 78 as Llanrwst thrashed them by 10 wickets and Gresford Seconds were dismissed for 93 in a seven-wicket defeat to St Asaph Seconds.

Ruthin lead the way in Division Three after bowling Bethesda Seconds out for 85 in an eight-wicket win.

Connah’s Quay Seconds couldn’t get to half that score as they were skittled out for just 42 at second-placed Pwllheli, who eased to a 10-wicket victory.

Craig Roberts hit 75 in Mold Seconds’ 201 for four but they two runs short at Caernarfon, who had opened up with 203 for six.

It was just as tight at Hawarden Park Seconds, who edged out Conwy by just three runs.

Harry Black top scored with an unbeaten 45 as he put on 82 with Owen Ford (36 not out) in Park’s 143 for four.

Robert Goodwin then took 3-31 as the visitors couldn’t get across the line, finishing on 140 for six.

Halkyn Seconds and Buckley Seconds conceded their games against Denbigh Seconds and Gwersyllt Park Seconds.

In Division Four, Bersham Seconds eased to an eight-wicket win at home to Ruthin Seconds, who were bowled out for 55.

Hawarden Park Thirds made only 32 in a 259-run hammering at Mynydd Isa and Maeshafn, for whom Stuart Applewhite blasted an unbeaten 102.

Aryaman Arora hit 55 while Naseer Ahmadzai took 3-11.

Carmel Seconds were beaten by just two runs by Llandudno Seconds, who posted 112 for three.

Llanrwst Seconds were two-wicket winners against Marchwiel and Wrexham Seconds, for whom Nick Husbands top scored with 68 as they posted 163 for eight.
